Baan Tha Chalom %u2013 Thawai RoadTha Chalom is a familiar name among Thai people as it is the title of a famous love song that tells the story of a young fisherman from Tha Chalom village who falls in love with a beauty from Mahachai district. As to Thawai Road, it is a main commercial zone where a number of local residents donated the land for the development of a trading center in their community. The name %u2018Thawai Road%u2019, was given by King Rama V. Tha Chalom community and Thawai Road have become a bustling business hub with Chinese ambience. This area is now famous for its street art creation which blends with its community lifestyle, a nice place for visitors who are into arts and culture. Through the years, Tha Chalom and Thawai Road continued to be an important port, bustling with its wealth, culture, tradition and its way of life which has always been related to the monasteries and temples. A big Buddha statue called %u2018Somdej Ong Phra Pathom Phra Bhudda Si Khee Chakkrabhat Munee Sum Bhudda Chayanti Sri Sakhon%u2019 situated at Wat Laem Suwannaram is so big that it can be seen from Mahachai on the opposite bank of the river. Not far from this temple, stands a Chinese shrine which was built more than 100 years ago called %u2018Guan Yu Shrine%u2019. The god is one the mostrespected among Chinese people.
